VP of Technology and CTO at Expedia to give talk

Mariano Albera, VP of Technology and CTO at Expedia will be discussing elements of the IT industry that are found in successful organizations and by implication, what students should know as they embark on their careers.

Bio:

Mariano is a software engineer from Argentina with more than 14 years of experience within the online travel industry. He was one of the first employees at Despegar.com and later he moved to Europe to lead development at Rumbo. In 2007 he joined Opodo as CIO where he spent 5 years leading to a successful sale of the business and creating the OdigeO group. In 2012 Mariano joined Thomas Cook as Group CIO for Ecommerce where he reported to Harriet Green supporting the digital transformation of the travel giant. After a few years in TC he decided to go back to the startup world and he has spent the last 2 years as CTO at Ovo Energy, the fastest growing energy company in the UK, where he was recognized as one of the Top 100 CIOs in the UK.
