
Deborah Luster, noted photographer, will present a public lecture about her creative work at the Springfield Art Museum auditorium.
The College of Arts and Letters and the Art and Design Department of Missouri State University is hosting a visiting artist as a part of the COAL Lecture Series.
Deborah Luster has received numerous awards for her photographic work including a 2018 Ford Foundation Art of Change fellowship, a 2016 Robert Gardner Fellowship from the Peabody Museum and a 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship. Her photographs are included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, New Orleans Museum of Art and other notable public and private collections. Luster has exhibited her work at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art; Museum of Contemporary Photography, Columbia College, Chicago; Prospect. 1 International Biennial, New Orleans, Jack Shainman Gallery, New York; Ballroom Marfa; and the Bell Gallery at Brown University. Major publications include One Big Shelf and Tooth for an Eye.
