Plenary Speaker: Majora Carter
The nonprofit industrial complex repeatedly administers the same cocktail of educational, health and job training supports in low-status communities across the U.S., yet these neighborhoods remain economically stagnant. America's increasing re-urbanization trend eventually consumes many such areas, spurring displacement and resentment toward the very outside investment that has been demanded for decades. Part of the reason is Brain Drain. Nearly every successful person from these communities leaves, taking their daily example of success, their local consumer spending and their longer term reinvestment capital with them. How do we create a sustainable lifestyle infrastructure to keep talent in the places where it can produce the most benefit?
