Plenary Speaker: Vivian Carter
The issue of health care has become a national crisis regardless of one’s political position. The health status of a country is directly related to the nation’s productivity and safety. Epidemiologists generally focus on the disease. However, a social epidemiologist will focus on the people with the disease. Therefore, it is important to address both biological and social structural perspectives. When examining the issues of health sustainability, it is essential to distinguish between health equality and health equity. These issues will be addressed through four lenses: bioethical, social environmental, social structural and economic.
