GGP Seminar by Dr. Janice Greene, MSU Biology Department, will present, "Bull Shoals Field Station, Migrating Birds and Geography."
The Bull Shoals Field Station (BSFS) supports research and education about the Ozarks. An overview of programs, facilities and habitats will be presented with an emphasis on the bird monitoring programs. For 10 years, birds have been monitored and banded at BSFS. More than 400 birds have been banded; some are resident birds and some are nwotropical migrants. Approximately half of the 900 bird species in the U.S. and the 400 species in Missouri are migratory. Migratory birds travel great distances across many country boundaries, cultures and habitats, which create difficult management issues. Examples of organizations and their projects that work with these various groups will be shared.
