Dept. of Physics, Astronomy & Materials Science Seminar
Date and time
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, February 01, 2018
Description

Departmental Seminar with Distinguished Professor David J. Singh from the University of Missouri. The title of the talk is: Resolving Contradictory Transport Requirements to Identify New Thermoelectric Materials. Thermoelectric devices are used for the conversion of thermal and electrical energy. Characteristics that can be used to identify new thermoelectric compositions will be discussed, and an efficient computational screening method based on an electronic fitness function will be presented.

David J. Singh holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Ottawa. He is a Curators’ Professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he has been since 2015. Previously, he was a Corporate Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and a Section Head at the Naval Research Laboratory.
