By William Shakespeare
Directed by Lisa Brescia
Shipwrecked on the shores of a strange land, Viola believes that her twin brother, Sebastian, has drowned and that she is alone in the world. Disguising herself as a boy named “Cesario,” she finds work as a page in the court of Duke Orsino. The Duke is smitten with the Lady Olivia and sends Viola/Cesario as his emissary to convey his passionate intentions. Olivia, however, falls for the messenger!
Meanwhile, Viola falls in love with Orsino — a fact that must remain secret, until Sebastian appears on the scene and all is revealed. One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, Twelfth Night is the tale of a desperate love triangle, mistaken identities, gender confusion and the hilarious mayhem that arises from our all-too-familiar human frailties.
The High School Theatre Workshop will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 30 performance.
