"Reconsidering the Scots-Irish Ozarks" will focus on a debate over the ethnocultural origins of the people of the Ozarks, a debate that stems from the earliest days of the Ozarks Studies program at MSU in the 1970s. Dr. Brooks Blevins, professor of history, will challenge, or at least complicate, the popular narrative that the historical Ozarks was a bastion of Scots-Irish culture.
The luncheon will be held in the Turner Family Hospitality Room on the first floor of the Kenneth E. Meyer Alumni Center. Complimentary parking is available in the attached garage off of McDaniel Street. Feel free to arrive any time after 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at approximately 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon.
The Missouri State University Foundation is excited to host the Bears in the Know Luncheon Series. Thank you to Arvest, our presenting sponsor.
