National Child Abuse Prevention Month Film Screening

National Child Abuse Prevention Month Film Screening
Date and time
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, April 20, 2017
Description

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE), along with Springfield's Child Abuse and Neglect Collaborative, is hosting a screening of Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope to bring awareness of this red flag issue to community members and Missouri State students.

"As the new documentary Resilience reveals, toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison, and early death. Resilience also chronicles the dawn of a movement that is determined to fight back. Trailblazers in pediatrics, education, and social welfare are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress - and the dark legacy of childhood that no child would choose."

Following the screening, a panel will discuss and answers questions on the topic of child abuse and what Springfield's nonprofits are doing about it. Join us to find out how you can help.

The CCE is also promoting a donation drive for the month of April. Donated items can be brought to the CCE in PSU 131. Items for the drive include:
