
A talk by Dr. Craig Howe, Director of the Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies in Martin, South Dakota. Dr. Howe has conducted path-breaking theoretical work in many areas of Native Studies: tribal history, tribal sovereignty, and architecture and sacred space. He has been director of the D'Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian History at the Newberry Library and a faculty member in the Department of Graduate Studies at Oglala-Lakota College, South Dakota. Dr. Howe will also be speaking on Wednesday, April 12 at 4:00 pm at the Springfield Art Museum on "The Future of American Indian Art Exhibits."
