Should we use modern technology to edit genomes? What if this technology could be used to eliminate diseases like Zika or Malaria? Tri Beta will be hosting a Building with Biology forum to provide an opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversations with scientists about important issues regarding the potential societal and ethical implications of synthetic biology. Join us on Thursday, November 10th from 6:30-8:00 in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom East for this exciting conversation.
The Building with Biology Forum is geared toward adults and is a 1 ½ hour conversation about the application of synthetic biology. It will be run by primarily by Dr. David J. Westenberg from Missouri S&T. Participation in the event would likely good. Especially to facilitate discussion. The forum will be on CRISPR/Cas9 and how much we should engineer genomes. It will use the mosquito as an example (malaria, zika). The website is here if you want more info:http://www.buildingwithbiology.org/forums
