Former cell and molecular biology major Lucas BonDurant, a PhD candidate at the University of Iowa and an Alfred P. Sloan and Amgen Scholar, will present on "FGF21 mediates endocrine control of simple sugar intake and sweet taste preference by the liver."
This research is important in our understanding of the cravings for sweet foods that are experienced by us all but play an important pathological role in disease like diabetes.
While at MSU, Lucas performed research in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Garrad, professor of Biomedical Sciences.
