The James River Basin Partnership will be hosting their annual Earth Day clean-up on Friday, April 22nd at Lake Springfield. Partners for this event include Springfield-Greene County Parks and Recreation, Bass Pro Shops and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
This is a FREE event open to anyone who would like to get out and make a difference in their community. There will be shoreline, lake and river clean-up opportunities available. Pre-registration is required.
Experienced floaters have the option to float a 4.75 mile section of the James River from Crighton Access to the Southwood Access. Shuttling from Southwood to Crighton Access will be provided. Bring your own boat or call and reserve one for free. A limited number of boats are available on a first come first serve basis, so don't delay.
If paddling isn't your thing then grab a trash bag and walk the shorelines of Lake Springfield and the James River. There will be multiple shoreline clean-up opportunities available at Lake Springfield, the Tailwaters Access and Crighton Access.
Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
To register, call Brent Stock at (417) 836-4847 or email at BrentonStock@MissouriState.edu.
