Ramadan, known as the Holy Month of fasting, holds profound significance in Islam. It commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad and serves as a time for spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and self-discipline. The month is a reminder of compassion, empathy, and the importance of community.
Our open house Iftar event during Ramadan aims to provide an inclusive and educational experience for the university community. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the cultural and religious aspects of Ramadan. The event will feature a presentation exploring the basics of Islam and the significance of fasting during Ramadan, as well as the opportunity of the breaking of fast (Iftar), and the importance of unity and understanding among diverse communities.
Our Ramadan event will foster a sense of community through engaging activities. Our organizations are made up of students of many ethnicities and nationalities, allowing attendees to experience the diversity within the Muslim community. The event will include a panel discussion featuring local, educated Muslims who can provide insights into Islam and answer questions from guests. Participants will have the chance to witness the breaking of fast together, creating a shared experience that promotes understanding and friendship. The evening will also include opportunities for socializing, fostering connections, and celebrating the values of Ramadan.
As a continuation of the Muslim Students Association and South Asian Students Associations’ commitment to promoting cultural understanding and inclusive excellence on campus, this event marks a significant occasion during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
