Workshop: Invasive Queer Kudzu with Visiting Artist Aaron McIntosh

Workshop: Invasive Queer Kudzu with Visiting Artist Aaron McIntosh
Date and time
1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, February 14, 2024
Description

Participants are invited to drop in any time between 1-6 p.m. to participate in this workshop.

The Queer Kudzu project raises visibility about Southern queer folks and their communities by using the metaphor of kudzu to exponentially grow queer stories across the South. Participants are invited to contribute their own S2LGBTQIA+ stories of thriving, or ally messages of support, to contribute to the growing mass of Southern queer kudzu stories. Participants will be provided with a cloth kudzu-shaped leaf, which they can write/draw/adorn with their stories using fabric markers, embroidery floss and sparkly embellishments. For those who are interested, we will also be quilting the leaves, adding a stem and then attaching them to the vines in McIntosh's exhibition "Entanglements" at Carolla Arts Exhibition Center during the workshop.
