
Each year, the English Department's Workplace Writing Forum sponsors two annual conferences: one for students interested in learning more about professional writing and one for faculty and others interested in teaching professional writing.
Featured speakers:
• Dr. Amy Hodges, assistant professor, Department of English, University of Texas, Arlington
Dr. Hodges' research examines the language, writing and communication strategies of multilingual engineers in transnational corporations. She also examines the role of writing programs in creating a more inclusive environment and preparing writers for diverse workplaces. Her work has appeard in "IEEE Transactions on Professional Community" and "Business and Professional Communication Quarterly."
• Dr. Timothy Ponce, associate professor of instruction, coordinator of internships and coordinator of technical writing and professional design, Department of English, University of Texas, Arlington
Dr. Ponce's scholarship rests at the intersection of technical communication and andragogy, design thinking, mentorship and student success. His work has appeared in "Pedagogy and Hybrid Pedagogy" and he has presented at IEEE and CPTSC.
