Abstract:

Alex Miller and Patrick Margavio graduated with physics degrees from MSU in 2010. Their paths separated for graduate school and early professional careers, but have rejoined at ThermAvant Technologies in Columbia MO, where both are Lead Engineers in the Technology Development department. The discussion in the departmental seminar will cover three topics: 1) stories of their academic and career trajectories that will resonate with MSU students, including perspectives on valuable skills and tools to develop in the University environment, 2) survey of technical challenges and active research for the development of oscillating heat pipes - a novel thermal management technology, 3) advertisement of ThermAvant Technologies and pitch for MSU PAMS new-grads to apply for future openings.
