Come celebrate one of the most beloved Hispanic holidays with traditional sugar-skull decorating, papel picado art and cempazuchitl flower-making. Participate in the mini-altar diorama competition, "Calaveritas" poetry creation and the Catrin and Catrina contests. Learn about the different cultural practices and rituals to honor your deceased ones across the globe. Visit the traditional altar and enjoy "Pan de Muerto" sweet bread. There will be live music from La Marimba Caliente and Mariachi Flor de Missouri, and dances from Grupo Latinoamericano Dance Troupe.
This festival is organized by the Department of World Languages and Cultures, in collaboration with Multicultural Programs and the Judith Enyeart Reynolds College of Arts and Letters. Participating departments include: religous studies, history and sociology and anthropology.
The PSU Ballroom will be transformed into an all-day festival. Stop by and celebrate these traditions and the spirits of the dead.
