GGP Seminar: Ethan Hochstein - "The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: An international example in bike and pedestrian infrastructure, connectivity and sense of place"

Ethan Hochstein is an avid biker, walker and observer of cities and places. He is employed by the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. as the director of horticulture and landscape to ensure it keeps looking good for daily users and users 50 years from now. He also helps with organizational strategy, event planning and other duties as assigned to keep downtown Indianapolis a place all want to spend time within.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick, is an 8-mile trail weaving through downtown Indianapolis. This unique bike and pedestrian trail has become the preferred way to experience downtown Indy even by audiences who prefer automobile use. The project's focus on connectivity, traffic calming, beautification and a unique public-private setup starts conversations and prompts visits from leaders around the world - leaders who want to learn how to improve their cities. 

Hochstein will talk about the Indianapolis Cultural Trail's ideation, organizational structure, challenges and positive outcomes. This will hopefully be a jump-off point for the audience to advocate for pedestrian infrastructure in their communities.
