As a physic undergraduate in Berlin and a doctorate at the California Institute of Technology, Dr. Hasselblatt is a prolific researcher with 5000 published pages and about 8000 citations, and a respected administrator (past dept. head and Associate Provost, and current secretary of the American Mathematical Society). With his rich experiences as a researcher and activist in various professional organizers, Dr. Hasselblatt will talk about why mathematics is a discipline that is uniquely international and rich in opportunities.
