Mathematical Model for Vehicular Traffic and Autonomous Vehicles
Dr. Benedetto Piccoli

Autonomy is revolutionizing traffic, and math is playing a big role in that. We first review some mathematical models used traditionally for vehicular traffic. Then we show how they can be used to control traffic via autonomous vehicles to dampen waves and reduce fuel consumption. These techniques were experimented in contained environments and on highways recently.
