Future teachers enter higher education with inherent ideological biases that can often exacerbate divides. American educators are expected to be neutral parties in the delivery of curriculum and in their interactions with students, parents and society at large. How may future classroom teachers be taught to reconcile their own biases with a freedom of ideas? How will these students learn to navigate issues within our society in a manner that increases tolerance of a variety of views? How can teacher education and current schooling bridge the teaching of our children to become involved and informed citizens?
