The Negro Motorist Green Book and Why Black Students Should Study Abroad

The Negro Motorist Green Book and Why Black Students Should Study Abroad
Date and time
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, February 03, 2021
Description

During the Jim Crow era, many Black individuals and families avoided recreational travel due to open and often legally prescribed discrimination against them and other non-whites. This sentiment was passed down and, even after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the choice to travel, let alone study abroad, within the Black community is still one that causes hesitency and insecurity. Join Study Away via Zoom as we discuss the historical significance of the "Green Book" and why 2021 is the year that Black students should study abroad to empower themselves. Please send an email to StudyAway@missouristate.edu to recieve the Zoom ID for this event.
