Date and time
2:15 PM - 3:15 PM, February 14, 2019
Description

Dr. David Malone - An AAPG Special Lecturer Presentation. Dr. Malone is a Distinguished Professor of Geology from Illinois State University. The Heart Mountain slide is one of the largest subaerial landslides on Earth and it has been one of the most controversial and enigmatic features in North America for nearly 120 years. Learn about how new field and lab work suggests volcanism may have triggered the Heart Mountain slide.

Dr. Malone's MS and PhD were obtained at the University of Wisconsin. His specialties are structural and sedimentary geology. In addition to his work on the Heart Mountain Slide, he has studied the sedimentary provenance of various stratigraphic units using detrtial zircon geochronology and has engaged in three dimensional geologic mapping of glaciated terranes.
