Metropolitan universities are uniquely situated to be anchor institutions within the communities they serve. These institutions have the power to help transform their communities, as well as the lives of their students. Through community-based research, service-learning, volunteerism and community programming, metropolitan universities can contribute greatly to solving issues that plague their communities. What examples exist of how institutions enrich both their students and community members?
